Friends of Cedar House provided 43 stockings to the Cedar House Care Home for Christmas, bringing joy to the residents and staff.
Inside the stockings were a multitude of items. All the stockings had socks and sweets in them. The ladies received hand cream, brushes, nail supplies, hair bands and toiletries, while the men received shaving supplies, combs, toiletries, and festive ties.
Samantha Dreelan, Wellbeing Coordinator at the care home, who was responsible for filling the stockings, tried to personalize the items as much as she could. She said, “Some had items to engage their individual interests, like colouring supplies, puzzle books, packs of cards and dominoes, CDs, novels, and football memorabilia.”
The stockings brought back a lot of memories for the residents. They shared many memories of Christmas stockings with each other, from the traditional fillings like fruits and nuts to pillowcases at the end of their beds filled with little games, toy cars, yo-yos, colouring supplies, selection boxes and annuals.
Samantha Dreelan described the stocking as a “great success and well received. The residents were delighted with all their little treats inside, and they brought lots of smiles to their faces
